Customer came in - said she was not sure if I would have it - but did I have prong collars or pieces for them . Was not sure which she wanted cause as soon as she said prong - I started shaking my head. 

That stopped her from asking - and I said " No I don't carry them , order them or believe in them". End of story for me. 

I started to ask her if she had seen the alternatives to these not necessary devices and she gave me the hand and walked out. 

I am not sure if I was feeling sad or mad. A little of both. 

I am not a dog trainer - but I work with a lot of them - and have seen the options and they are out there.

I work with a rescue group that handles big dogs - Pitbulls, Labs, Amer. Bulldogs etc. and they never use these types of collars. They use all of the other resources out there - like Wonder Walkers, Halti and other head collars and Easy Walk Harnesses. 

I am not going to apologize for my decision to not carry these items. But will be more then happy to help you find a better more humane solution.

We can't let these dogs perish - so we are holding another event this upcoming Saturday from 11-5. 

We are in dire need of foster homes from tomorrow to the event Saturday. Let us know if you have the room in your home and heart to help us out. 

I am also in need of volunteers at the event. This is a great way to give back as a dog lover - and a few hours of your time is all we need.

Kaitlyn and her family adopted a pup from us in January. He is an amazing dog and they are so happy to have Watson in their life. 

They are also taking Watson to UCLA Dogs - our preferred trainers in the city - and they are loving thier experience there!

So we put Gus to the test. Gus is an adorable, funny young Golden Retriever that can take apart the toughest toy in a matter of minutes!

So his people took home Tuffys Mega Ring. Seven layers of fabric with stitched in squeakers and multiple rows of stitching. We were all sceptical that this toy would stand up to the tough jaws of Gus. 

Well verdict in - seems like the toys stands up to its name. With a few frayed spots after long time chewing, this toy is still intact and Gus loves chewing on it.

This toy retails for $25 - so a little pricy. But if you want to give that touch chewer in your life a toy that stands up to the test - this is it.

We found homes and "foster to adopt" homes for 18 dogs. What a great number!

NEW ADDITION!! Our FIRST cat!!! 1.5yo BEAUTIFUL shorthair calico Manx with no tail, she is awesome and only about 7lbs and loves to be carried around and dressed up by my 5yo daughter, she is also very dog savvy, does not particularly like them, but will tell them to back off and act like she is bigger then them it is pretty funny. She is a very sweet girl though and loves to follow my daughter around or be carried around by her. 

Under-Dawgz is going through some re-organization as a group - so we are a little behind - so bear with us!

As many of you know - these events are quite busy and we always have people waiting for us to be ready to go -their eye set on a particular pup. Tomorrow is going to be no exception as we once again have some amazing dogs up for adoption.

Under-Dawgz is not a shelter but a volunteer based rescue with one person heading it up. The dogs are placed in foster homes when possible and boarded when necessary - a costly expense for a group like this. I along with several others help out where needed answering emails and calls to take some of the pressure off Tanya the head of the group so she can do the biggest job - pull dogs from shelters, get them vetted and cleaned up and into a safe situation awaiting a new home. 

I get a lot of calls and emails from people wanting to meet pups ahead of the adoption event. It sounds reasonable - why have someone wait for the event when they can give the pup a good home today. There is a lot of prep that goes into these events and dogs are often scattered in different foster homes or boarding facilities, making it hard to meet up with people in the days closest to the event. As we get closer to the event, people have seen that certain dogs will be at the event on PetFinder or Craigs List and they would like an opportunity to meet the dog. We try to hold to our commitment and have the dogs we say are going to be at the event there.

We saw a lot of fashionable pups on the streets of Paris which we expected. From what we saw the spaniel types were very popular as well as small toy dogs. 

We searched out a few pet stores as well. Brought back a couple toys for our immortal dogs.

Here is a cute little store in our neighborhood that sold only accessories like  puff vests, sparkly t-shirts, beds and carriers. 

Nine pups found forever homes. We still had a lot of dogs in need of homes at the end of our event - so they had to go into boarding while they await adoption. This option is very costly for the rescue and not the best solution for these dogs who have been in shelters and are feeling lost and confused. 

So to make sure we can get homes for these pups - we are having another adoption event this Saturday from 11-3. We will have a full list of pups available for adoption here on our site by Thursday - end of day. 

Looking for ways you can support this rescue effort? We are always looking for volunteers at the events, fosters for the dogs that do not find forever homes and donations of food for these hungry guys.
