Pet Food Recall
Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 02:38PM A huge pet food recall is happening right now. It currently includes 14 brands all made under the umbrella of Diamond Pet Foods. These foods have possibly been contaminated with Salmonella. These brands are recalling select foods produced at Diamond's Gaston, South Carolina factory:
- Diamond Naturals
- Diamond
- Taste of the Wild
- Canidae
- Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul
- Kirkland
- Natural Balance
- Premium Edge
- Solid Gold
- Wellness
- Country Value
- Professional
- Apex
- 4Health

Wow - for starters I know that many of you were not aware that many of these foods were made by a second party in whole or in part. Diamond Pet Foods has had numerous recalls over the years and in 2005 had a recall from this very same plant. They make many foods for both their own lines and so many others.
It continues to worry me that large food producers out source their foods to contract factories. This is where quality control breaks down. We continue to see recalls of foods that have been bought up by conglomerates. I feel that profit becomes the motive and our pets health and welfare comes second.
At Immortal Dog we work hard to carry foods that have never had recalls, are produced by small companies, contain human grade ingredients when possible and are super transparent. So we know what is going into these foods and the steps they are taking to keep our pets health a number one priority. Your pet's health is our number one priority.
